College Publications and News Services
The Office of Public Affairs (OPA) publishes a variety of materials to inform the College and local communities of news, events, and activities.
The College's main publication is the website: www.williams.edu. It contains almost all of the public information available about Williams. The section "News and Events" includes college news releases, a list of faculty publications, an event calendar, sports information, "Williams in the News," a listing of Williams appearances outside the local area, the college map, information for journalists, and the contacts for room bookings and posting of daily messages.
OPA publishes The Williams Directory (phone book), the At Williams calendar, and Daily Messages, notes on campus events and college news. It also publishes the yearly Fast Facts with basic information about the College, both academic and financial, the campus map, OnCampus, the commencement newspaper, and a Handbook for Parents. Copies of these publications can be obtained by calling 597-4277.
The News Office is part of OPA and handles media relations for the College, faculty members, and students. Faculty are encouraged to use their services, which are listed in the media package sent to each faculty member at the beginning of the academic year or by calling 597-4279.
The Williams Alumni Review is part of the Office of Alumni Relations and Development. The Review, a quarterly publication, is distributed to the faculty, alumni, parents, and friends of the College. Articles by and profiles of faculty members frequently appear in the Williams Alumni Review.
The following are other regular Williams publications that faculty members will find useful:
- The Williams College Bulletin, whose issues include:
- Courses of Instruction (April)
- Williams College Prospectus and Application (May)
- Admissions Profile (August)
- Student Handbook (September)
- Course Catalog (September)
- What's What (First-Year, Transfer, and Exchange Students Facebook)
Students publish The Williams Record, the weekly college newspaper, and newsletters and reviews of general and literary interest, and the Daily Advisor. News is also carried on the student radio station, WCFM, a non-commercial FM station, which broadcasts on 91.9 megahertz. Its office and studio are in Prospect House.
