Light Duty Policy

Employees on short-term disability or workers' compensation are encouraged to return to work as soon as medically possible. Temporary light duty assignments in many cases provide the appropriate transition back to full duty. Light duty assignments accommodate medical limitations and are arranged following review with the department head, the Benefits Administrator, and/or the Assistant Vice President for Operations. Assignments may or may not be within the employee's regular department. They are arranged on a temporary basis for a period not to exceed 90 days or the near term. The attending physician must approve working overtime while on light duty in advance.
