Lead Baker, Dining Service
A full-time, 40 hours per week, year-round position reporting to the Paresky Center Manager is available. The initial schedule will be Sunday 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM; Monday - Thursday 3:30 AM - 12:00 Noon with Fridays and Saturdays off. Schedules are subject to change based on the needs of the department. Working under the daily supervision of the First Cook, the Lead Baker is responsible for the production of quality bakery products, safe food preparation/handling and service. S/he delegates daily production among a team of bakers, prepares weekly assignments utilizing the CBORD ordering system, coordinates the deliveries of baked items and maintains HACCP Food Safety standards including sanitation. Critical functions of this position are to utilize standard recipes to prepare and bake menu items; assist in consistent food quality i.e. temperature, texture, flavor and presentation.
The Lead Baker will have the opportunity to produce specialty baked items for high-end catered events as well as assist in recipe development during down periods. Additional responsibilities include: the ability to relate to customers and staff in an effective manner; handling a variable work schedule and working without immediate supervision; sanitation of the kitchen areas and serving lines following Williams Dining clean as you go policy and participates in major cleaning as scheduled during down times; ensures that sound environmental practices, including composting, recycling and overall waste reduction measures are adhered to. Bending and lifting heavy objects is also required. Responsible for carrying out closing procedures and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will have worked in a bakery relegating the drafts of ovens, commercial baking equipment and had experience working with a team of bakers.
