Digital Imaging Assistant, Williams College Museum of Art

The Williams College Museum of Art seeks a full-time (35 hours/week) Digital Imaging Assistant for a two-year term position. Reporting to the Associate Registrar the Digital Imaging Assistant provides support for a grant-funded collections management project, focused on digitally photographing art works in the collection and making these images and records available through a public web module.

Duties include scheduling free-lance photographers for monthly photo sessions as well as preparing, logging and examining artworks involved in photo shoots. The Digital Imaging Assistant will generate condition reports for art objects in process, verify digital file names and link these newly created files to the collection database and then return art work to storage. S/he will attend monthly collections management meetings and report on project activity.

Candidates should have a working knowledge of basic photography methods, advanced computer skills and experience with relational databases. Sensitivity to objects of art and its careful handling is essential. Attention to detail and time management skills are required. Experience with The Museum System (TMS); BA in an art related field or 2 years experience in museum registration or photography is preferred.
