- The refrigeration alarms in Paresky are working fine.
- Outlets in mail room: Joe reported he had spoken with Chris Williams, discussion ongoing.
- Construction tape at Dodd House work site: Joe found no construction tape blocking walkway, but encourages people to walk through by Sawyer.
- Screen door in front of Mears: Pat called in work order and job is completed.
- Second level of parking garage signage: now a non-issue.
New Business:
Incident Reports submitted to the committee this month:
- A Dining Services employee while walking by baker’s work area hit hand on plastic table cover which was hanging over edge of table. Recommended corrective action (RCA): investigate securing plastic, make sure it is slid all the way onto the table.
- A groundsman pulled lower back while moving risers. RCA: review lifting practices.
- A custodian while carrying cardboard to basement caught the cardboard on the railing and fell on left wrist and backside. RCA: wait for elevator, use caution on stairs.
- A custodian, while walking to Greylock Dining, stepped off walk and fell twisting left ankle and thumb. RCA: pay better attention.
- A Dining Services employee while flipping silverware into another container was punctured by a fork tine. Fortunately it was only a tiny puncture. RCA: be more careful and avoid bad puns until it heals.
- A Dining Services employee, while loading a rack of glasses onto a high shelf, hit the shelf and shattered some glass. Employee flushed eyes but received no injuries. RCA: rotate racks so empties are out of the way. Lisa commented that most kitchens store glass racks fairly high. Joe will investigate.
- A Facilities employee dropped a cabinet heater cover on toe. RCA: check cover to see if clips designed to hold it when unscrewed are in place. Also, repair the broken clips on that unit.
Additional New Business:
- Lisa reported that the lights at Paresky go off at 2 AM but the custodian works until 3. Previously, the lights went off for ten minutes to clear the building then came back on. Joe said he will check on it and commented that it should have been handled by the manager.
- ail reported that steps at west entrance to Hopkins are chipped. Joe will check.
- Julie asked about the exterior lighting situation at north side of CTD. Joe responded that it was still being planned and that he would check on it.
- Jean reported that on the west side of Paresky there were wide gaps in the sidewalks. Joe responded that much of that sidewalk was to be redone.
- Pat reported complaints that the third floor of Mears was 89 degrees. Joe explained that the college was between seasons, still running heat and not yet on cooling. He suggested opening the windows for the time being.
- Pat reported requests for motion sensor lights at Mears as an effort to save money. Joe responded that installation costs and frequent over-rides by employees often render installation costs impractical.
- Joe reported that the town was re-doing both Hoxsey Street and Stetson Court this summer, replacing utilities and resurfacing. He noted this might cause traffic and parking issues, but people would have to work around it.
