Meeting Minutes Tues., Aug. 21, 2007

Attending

Old Business

  • The loading dock at Paresky: work complete.
  • Morgan East and West stairways: work complete.
  • Additional exterior lighting at CTD: Irene looking into it.
  • CPR classes will be offered in the fall.
  • Doggy don’t bag stations: Adriana has OK’d funding for two bag stations for lower Cole field and two at Weston. College will provide signage.
  • Roof fan at Dodd: it is no longer necessary to get out of lift to service it.
  • Mechanical room lights at CTD: work order is in.
  • lat ceiling mounting: follow-up pending.
  • Delivery of chemicals to Sciences: Jay followed up with person concerned with staff training. Deliverers drop all packages together. Jay will contact deliverers, Joe suggested getting precise info at time of delivery rather than just making a general complaint.
  • Pete has retired. Steve has contacted Jean for a replacement.

New Business

There were 6 incident reports submitted to the committee this month:

  1. A security officer, while walking up stairs behind Fayerweather, fell and hit back of head. Marble stairs are worn and slippery, looking into roughing them up with sand blasting.
  2. A security officer injured left foot while slipping on loose gravel at Weston Language. Gravel present due to road repair work.
  3. An athletic groundsman strained lower back while lifting railing onto truck. Recommended corrective action [RCA]: get help with heavy lifting. Looking into using a flatbed truck to facilitate loading and unloading.
  4. A research student was bitten by a rat. RCA: update tetanus shot, sacrifice rat (once they get the taste of human blood. . .).
  5. A horticulturist was stung by a bee and though allergic did not have EPI pen with him. However, did get to pen in time. RCA: carry with him.
  6. An employee stepped into a pothole on lower drive at Stetson and strained neck and shoulder and left elbow. RCA: work order to fill in hole.

Additional New Business

  • Pat reported that the sidewalk by Vogt was uneven due to tree roots pushing up slab. Joe will investigate.
