Childcare Committee (4-4-0)
The Childcare Committee provides advice and recommendations to the appropriate administrative offices of the College that bear responsibility for different aspects of childcare issues impacting College faculty and staff.
The committee helps to clarify the roles and responsibilities of different College administrative offices, and coordinates the activities of various College departments concerned with childcare issues. It evaluates whether the current College policies and support for childcare meet the College's goals, recommends changes where necessary, and determines how various consultants' recommendations can be implemented. It provides advice on the contractual agreements between the childcare provider(s) and the College, evaluates and recommends policies for handling complaints about programs, facilities, or access to the College-associated childcare center(s), and works with other external groups involved in assessing or improving the operations of the center.
Faculty membership includes two tenured and two non-tenured representatives, at least one of whom is not the parent of a child attending the childcare center. There is one voting ex officio representative from the administrative staff, to be selected by the Administrative Council. There are three non-voting ex officio members to be selected jointly by the Vice President for Operations, the Provost, the Vice President for Strategic Planning and Institutional Diversity, and the Dean of Faculty from their offices.
