Business

  • Staff Council website feedback: Martha asked if there was any feedback from the newly posted Staff Council website. Members had heard little response from campus, but will inquire further.
  • New policies: The Code of Conduct and the Conflict of Interest policies will be posted to the employee handbook.
  • Claiming Williams: The organizers have created a website with information regarding the event. Information will also be posted each day in the Daily Messages until the event occurs.
  • College Extended Holiday Closing: Results of the energy savings are in the Daily Messages posted by Stephen Klass.
  • Presidential search: A member of the presidential search committee, David Pilachowski, College Librarian, was present. A congratulatory response from other members of the council was given to Dave. Members felt Dave was a good representative for the staff. Dave was searching for input from staff regarding issues, concerns, or nominations for the candidacy. The discussion included ideas such as looking for a proponent for arts and technology, someone who understands and values support/administrative staff, and a search which casts a wide net for candidates. Some expressed concerns regarding job security and questioned if the new president would embrace Morty's idea of the community coming together during times of financial instability. There was a discussion regarding timing and venues for staff to share their input. Dave stated that there will be more than one forum for which staff will be able to participate. He also noted that staff input is very important to the search committee.
