How many computers does Williams have and how much energy do they use?
There are many different kinds of computers at Williams, and the energy they use varies depending on both the kind of computer and the particular work it's doing. The numbers are approximate and power consumption is very approximate here, but....

We also have somewhere around 150 powerful server machines, located in Jesup, which OIT uses to support IT services for the college. The energy consumption for those machines varies greatly, but combined they use something around 200 kilowatts for both computing and environmental management.
So, if all the computing stuff on campus is drawing power at the same time the total is going to be something like 430 kW, about 15-20% of electricity usage on campus (see the Sustainability site for more info about general electricity use). That's worst case. Actual power use is significantly less, though I don't know by how much.
