Sent Mail Location

Different email clients save your sent mail in different locations. This can be confusing as you switch clients, or if you use webmail sometimes and a client other times. Below are the locations of sent mail for clients set up in IMAP mode.

Outlook Express: Sent Items

Outlook: Sent Items (local - meaning the sent mail is not on the server, it is only on the computer. See the Outlook sent mail page for information on how to make your sent mail exist on the server.

Thunderbird: Sent (local - as above for Outlook, but you can choose an IMAP server folder as the location in the Thunderbird preferences)

Pine and Webmail: sent-mail

OSX Mail: Sent Messages (but it appears as Sent in the OSX Mail folder list) - so in another email client look for Sent Messages for the OSX Mail sent mail.

Eudora: Out (local) The problem is that it’s a different format than other mailboxes. If you tried to convert it to a regular IMAP mailbox up on the server (by dragging messages up) what you get are messages that look like HTML code.
