Blackboard is a web-based course management software package. It provides easy-to-use templates and tools for faculty to put their course materials online. It also allows both synchronous and asynchronous online communication between faculty and students.

Using BlackBoard, Williams faculty with limited HTML knowledge can develop web-enhanced courses seamlessly and efficiently. Its common and consistent interface (templates and shells) allows OIT to implement efficient and systematic training and support.

To begin, print and read the Getting Started Guide (pdf). You might also be interested in the Quickstart on Assessment Tools Guide or Customizing Blackboard Menus Guide. To import or export your courses, please refer to this Import Export Guide.
