Setup email on your BlackBerry Pearl, Curve or World Phone

  1. Press the BlackBerry menu button and select E-mail Settings - this will take you to the Verizon BlackBerry Internet Server (BIS).
  2. Email Account Setup
  3. You will be asked to enter your email address and password. Enter your email address in this format: username@williams.edu into the Email Address field.
    • (for example abc2@williams.edu or ewilliam@williams.edu, NOT John.B.Smith@williams.edu)
  4. Enter the password for your email account into the Password field. Then confirm your password. Note that entering your password can be tricky when you put in numbers, so go slow.
  5. Select Next.
  6. BlackBerry should inform you that it automatically configured the account

For the new Storm (touchscreen model)

  1. Select the setup folder.
  2. Select E-mail Settings, this will take you to the Verizon BlackBerry Internet Server (BIS)
  3. Select Add
  4. Select other
  5. You will be asked to enter your email address and password. Enter your email address in this format: username@williams.edu into the Email Address field.
    • (for example abc2@williams.edu or ewilliam@williams.edu, NOT John.B.Smith@williams.edu)
  6. Enter the password for your email account into the Password field. Note that entering your password can be tricky when you put in numbers, so go slow.
  7. Select Next.
  8. BlackBerry should inform you that it automatically configured the account

On the older 8703e

  1. Select E-mail Settings from the main screen.
  2. If you haven't already, you'll need to create a "Blackberry account". This is seperate than your Williams account.
  3. Once that is done: Services: Email Accounts
  4. Add an email account
  5. For email address, put in username@williams.edu
  6. Put in the password
  7. BlackBerry should inform you that it automatically configured the account

Using the web interface to add accounts

Recently it seems like Verizon does not want you to set up accounts this way. When you go to the site and try to create a new Blackberry account it may say the account already exists for your phone. In this case, just call the support number listed there and they should be able to unblock it. Once unblocked, follow these steps:
